What is SEO precedence Cairns?
Precedence for Google Ranking & Digital Marketing
As many of you know I moved to Cairns at the beginning of 2025 for a 2 year adventure with my wife and kids. As I had only 18 months ago separated my old business Angry Ant to Get Leads this left me feeling a little nervous but in truth customers preference for someone local while it’s there for “new” customers if you have a relationship of trust established already then they are usually happy to keep with you and so I’ve actually not lost any customers as a result of moving to Far North Queensland working in Digital Marketing.
For those of you who know nothing about me or Get Leads, I have 160+ customers and have been working in digital marketing for over 20 years. I’ve worked on project for global companies and I also have a background in defence, government and tourism.
What is precedence?
Simply a term that means giving priority or preference to your online business compared to your competition. There’s of course many factors in this not just a nice design or even for that matter onsite type. Best practice is a part of it, performance and everything else that leads to good SEO practices. That’s why I’ve titled the post with an SEO flavour.
Location page strategy to give a site priority
This post however is all about the precedence that Google puts on website rankings for keywords you may wish to target. I have never wanted to be known as a “location” web designer when I was living in Wagga and with customers from all over the nation I attempted to give precedence to location pages to rank over my homepage. My competitors said I was a bit crazy because what’s harder to rank against your competition a sub-page of your site or a homepage. The answer of course is your homepage.
The move of course to Cairns meant zero change to the SEO strategy to give priority to my location pages. It has however been a bit a more difficult than expected to get to rank for keywords like web designer cairns which in the Riverina it was quite easy in comparison. In Cairns there are more than 20+ people or agencies that call themselves web designers. Using that term pretty loosly as most of those who rank on page one are far from quality web designers. Sorry to those of you reading this, I’m sure I’m not talking about you.
What SEO strategy gives the most precedence to your online presence?
There are probably a hundred different strategies here that you could use to give yourself a boost and therefore precedence over the next guy. I usually refer to this as simply winning the competitive Google race to rank number 1. By far the number 1 strategy is not “good content”, it’s not “technical” and it’s certainly not posting AI based content. It’s harder than all those things, it’s 100% backlink authority from authoritative contextually relevant websites.
What gives precedence to your site changes over time
In 2023 and some of 24 I invested myself in writing posts and saw results within a few days of posting these. Towards September – December last year I saw any changes here have zero impact which was disappointing. Now for me that might be the case but for you this strategy might still be worth while engaging in. Usually when writing content I like to create silos of content around specific topics and link some of these internally while giving my location pages a bit of love in the process simply because these are the ones I want to rank. Enter Precedence Cairns as a generic keyword worth ranking.
I had a client call me this week and ask about my search engine optimisation services as I’d reviewed his website and was quick to let him know that there were some easy wins with keywords that wouldn’t take very long to fix. In addition of course some other technical elements would also be taken care of. With these types of customers the deal is imply that I will only do the work if I have you as a customer and partner long term and so go about transferring their hosting and website management as a priority. I simply can’t be as effectvie with website optimisation “if” we’re hosting on a budget cheap platform with thousands of others.
What other strategies give precedence to your website in Cairns?
I believe you will outweigh or rank higher than others if you have contextual location relevance. This is an area I’m currently sorely lacking in at the moment. Do a backlink search though on any of your competitors who are targeting local locations and you may be interested in what you might find. For me in the past designing the local turf club MTC, a site with authority helped me greatly, but it didn’t stop there, there were many others with “location aka Riverina town” in the name. If you’re a business in Cairns and you want precedence over your competitors I would think Cairns chamber of commerce or any tourism based digital marketing. These will come at a cost of course but will give you the leg up you need to make sure your ranking for the location keyword your targeting. Be careful where you invest your marketing dollars though because there’s quite alot of directories that I would consider their links to your site completely useless having seen zero results from these mass link farms.
What about from precedence reviews that are given on Facebook or Google?
Definitely worth considering reviews of all types. We’re a great believer in social proof and this is one way things can move the needle. You may even find a great long tale keyword using in conjunction with your competitors main keywords that is where some easy traffic results may be found.
I have no budget to join any of these or any others?
That’s ok, try content marekting and develop your own articles like this one. Interlink other articles like my best cairns web designers or whatever industry you might be in and always link back to the page you want to show on Google as your lead page for new customers. Add an image that also targets your given keyword to make sure everything your doing alignts to the goal. Rank or Add precedence to your website over your competitors in Cairns and you too will be top of the pile.
How do you choose a website designer who can give you precedence?
Just a couple of tips, if a company has no META (old school descriptions used by Google on the search index). If they have a lack of keyword density (number of targetted keywords) in the right places than I wouldn’t bother with their designs. SEO should be deeply engraved in the design process and not an after thought. Clearly if these basics are missing they don’t know what they’re doing or they’re outsourcing.
