Jason Greenlees

Jason’s career in web development started in 2001 with his first job out of university in Sydney working on several high profile real estate web systems and working for a start-up digital agency on the north shore. After a few years he went back to working on solving problems in an IT accounting system and worked as a field engineer dedicated to financial reporting in the Australian car sales industry.

In 2004 Jason started working for the Australian Defence force and put his trouble shooting skills to good use creating a training management system that was ued by Army for almost 20 years. In 2012 he was awardred a silver Commendation by the Army for the work done on the system. While working for Army he started anotehr small digital marketing agency in 2006 starting to put his skills to good use in web development and design.

Over the course of 15 years 1 client became almost 140 and the part time weekend job had become more of a full-time job advancing through support and SEO work quickly. He says “I can’t beleive how quickly word of mouth spread and I was pulling all-nighters to get website work completed”. After scaling back full time work at Defence from 2019 he took Get Leads AU full time in 2023. This year in 2026 he has 20 years in working with client websites in his own business. More broadly he’s worked on websites since 2001 giving him a total of 25 years.

What do you do at Get Leads AU?

It depends on the day, web development is my main experience and it’s one of the things I enjoy but that’s now lead me into third party API integrations and the power of utilising data with AI and several integrated systems. It’s powerful stuff but at the end of the day I build scalable, best practice websites that rank and deliver customers results.

Biggest claim to fame?

Easily, the web based database training management system KTAS I built for Defence back in 2004-2006. Beyond that I would have to say the Pulse+IT news website. It’s the biggest in Australia with over 30,000 subscribers. 

What’s your approach to work?

It’s not only about what you can see, customers and designers focus on the visuals. I focus on a solid strategic foundation that uses the right building blocks. Strange for a developer, I actually have a personality but get me started on talking tech and good luck stopping me. I’m super passionate and get into the weeds quickly.

What was my job before Get Leads AU?

I worked full time for the Australian Defence Force as a public servant, analyst.

What would you be doing when you’re not at work?

I ride bikes, road cycling, mountain bikes.  I ride into Cairns three times a week via Smithfield and have coffee with friends down at the esplanade. You’ll find me down at Roma 7am Tue, Thursdays. Machans or somewhere else interesting on a Saturday morning. I spend time with my wife Jane who works at Freshwater Christian College and my three kids and two cocker spaniels out at Kewarra Beach.
