We were lucky enough to be chosen to complete a website overhaul for Wagga's most iconic racing and events venue — home of the Wagga Gold Cup Carnival. This project focused on transforming the MTC Wagga's website into an experience-led platform that serves as a central hub for events, race days, news, and visitor information. The structure and design were carefully considered to maximise impact while remaining cost-effective. MTC Wagga is the regions number 1 race track with regular events running weekly on and off the track.

Project Brief

Get Leads Australia developed a new website for the Murrumbidgee Turf Club, a regional events venue and home of the Wagga Gold Cup Carnival. The site features a video-led design, mobile-optimised performance, and self-managed tools for race calendars and sponsor listings.

The Murrumbidgee Turf Club now has a digital home that does justice to the scale and spectacle of the organisation. The video-led experience immediately communicates event energy. Staff can independently manage their race calendar and sponsor directory. Mobile visitors — the majority of the audience — get a fast, visually rich experience purpose-built for their device. Most importantly, the site now reflects what MTC truly is: a world-class regional events venue and the proud home of the Wagga Gold Cup Carnival. Get Leads is proud to support an organisation that has been part of the Riverina community for over 150 years, and we look forward to continuing to grow their digital presence.

UX & web design — built for a 60% mobile audience

The Murrumbidgee Turf Club website required a complete overhaul to replace an ageing, dated platform previously Drupal that no longer reflected the role MTC plays in the local community. The challenge was to deliver a significantly improved experience on a minimal budget, transforming the website into a central hub for everything MTC while maintaining consistency and usability for backend management. A key strategic shift involved changing the focus of the messaging and visuals away from racing alone, and toward the broader experience for patrons, events, and the cultural role of the Turf Club. The rebuild was delivered using a custom Oxygen Builder setup, incorporating advanced navigation, dynamic content loops, and immersive visual elements to create an engaging, scalable platform without the limitations of off-the-shelf website builders.

Immersive Navigation with Practical Usability

With more than 60% of MTC visitors arriving on a phone or tablet, every design decision was made mobile-first. The static homepage was replaced with a full-screen video hero — immediately communicating the energy and spectacle of race day. A mega menu replaced the old navigation, making it effortless to move between race information, function enquiries, sponsorship opportunities and event calendars without losing sight of the stunning event photography that defines the MTC experience. Backend improvements gave staff the ability to independently manage Gold Cup Carnival sponsor listings and populate a live race day calendar — removing a previous bottleneck and keeping content fresh year-round. A new news section and event signup capability round out a site that works as hard off the track as the MTC does on it.

Brand identity — royal blue, gold & 150 years of history

The MTC brand carries real heritage weight. Our brief was to honour that history while bringing the visual identity in line with a modern, event-driven organisation. The refreshed site leans into the club’s signature royal blues and golds — colours that carry the gravitas of 150 years of racing tradition while feeling contemporary and bold. The brand story is front and centre, giving the MTC a digital presence that matches the prestige of the Wagga Gold Cup Carnival itself.

We moved the site from a very basic and boring black and white style brand to it’s true identity giving it the well known feel that people expect from an experience like going to any MTC Wagga event.
